Motorcycles II

One of my other toys is a Yamaha STX four-stroke. It is just big enough for me to not look too stupid riding it around. It is good on gas, and has pretty decent power for a small bike. It is all black and yellow (usually Yamahas are yellow here). The parts are easy to get to and replace, and there are numerous motorcycle repair shops and parts stores close by. The other bike is a Suzuki (brand new).  It came with a free helmet and jacket. It is a semi-auto (so no handlebar clutch). It runs well and is pretty smooth on rough roads, of which there are plenty here. Now I am watching as they are building a brand new Honda factory just eight miles from my house. It will sell both cars and bikes. It's very big and will offer a lot of jobs to the locals. I want to see what they bring in.  I might even buy an SUV from them, if I can manage it. You've heard the saying "Buy American!". Well, that's not gonna happen here very often. So you pick from the best that is offered here.  Honda is obviously a well-established company with a far reaching name. But the biggest benefit, if I buy something from them, is that service and parts are just right around the corner for me.  That's big here! My wife wants me to buy a much bigger bike that "fits me" better. But they are not that common and are much more expensive. Even in a fairly poor country, some things are very expensive. One of my best buddies from the military just informed me that he bought a new Harley Davidson 1140cc monster. His objective, I'm sure, was to make me jealous. It worked! I'm officially jealous. But I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. I'm not cheap, but a bike that size costs as much as a small car. Even so, I'm happy for him, as he got one on special order that he always wanted, delivered right to his front door! That's Harley for you. So, being as I live here, I have to stick to what works locally. Still, when I go back to the States in a few months, I'm going to drive that big sucker!
It's a cool blue sky above!
