Visit Texas!

Of course Texas is a place worth visiting! If you can't afford a vacation out of the country (most can't), then go someplace where there is lots to see and lots to do. Most other states in the U.S. have a natural jealousy of Texas.  It's with good reason. We are a very big place that offers snow for skiing, beaches for sun bathing, gulfs, lakes and rivers to fish or ride the rapids in, and a night life that is as good as anywhere. You can experience ranch life, cattle drives, horseback riding, and chuck wagon cookouts.  If that's not your thing, we have five star rated hotels, the latest spa treatments, pools, and gyms, with world-class dining or room service. Again, not your thing, then we have two pro baseball teams, two pro basketball teams, and two pro football teams, not to mention hundreds of college games. Still didn't hit your thing? Then we have themes parks, amusement parks, world class zoos, and other attractions that are the best in the country. Still not there?  How about huge night clubs, dance halls, honky tonks, live concerts, comedy clubs, and open mike nights. If I haven't hit anything you like then maybe you're just a bit hard to please.

Some of the scenery in Texas is breathtaking. Huge fields, stretching miles and miles; full of different colors. Green, yellow, purple, and white. Large lakes for boating, drifting, and enjoying the wildlife. Huge, open highways stretching for hundreds of miles, letting you know for sure, you're not in the city anymore.

Dallas/Ft. Worth - known for it's night life. Home to numerous clubs, fancy hotels, and glamour. Top of the line accommodations, and millions of things to do. Home of the Mavericks & Rangers.

San Antonio - The "'Riverwalk" -loaded with outdoor restaurants. and tour boats cruising through the area. Full of shops selling just about everything from food, to local gifts, to top of the line clothing. Home of the Spurs. Home of Pearl beer brewery. Hemisphere Tower with it's revolving restaurant.  Home of Seaworld. It's also very close to my own hometown and my parents. It is also home to about five military installations, including the major burn center.

Houston - Home of NASA, and the space center. Home of the Rockets, Astros, and Texans. It also has a great night life of a different kind. It is known for it's vast mix of cultures.

Galveston - right on the coast; known for it's fish and seafood. A good place to take out a charter boat, and do a little fishing yourself. A great area to just hang around in and relax. Lots to see and do, as there are about five good sized towns lcoated very close together.

El Paso - right on the border with Mexico. It offers a strong mexican influence, and great mexican food. It it also home to two military bases. Or you can jump across the border and experience Mexico itself. And you can bring back two bottles of liquor; like Kahlua or Tequila, at a much reduced price.

Laredo - This place was used in many western books,, as it dates back a long way. It is actually two cities in one, as it sits one the border of Mexico. Half of the city is called Laredo United and is on the U.S. side; and the other half is called Nueva Laredo, and is on the Mexican side of the border. I gives you a bit of both worlds. There is a bit of an obvious border separation between the two, so you know which side your on. And you cannot cross that line unless you go thru customs.

And what they say about Texas is true! Everything is bigger in Texas! Our cattle are the size of elephants. Our deer look like moose. Our dogs are the size of wolves.  Our cats look like panthers. Our chicken eggs look like ostrich eggs. And our snakes look like pythons. But our egos are relatively small, and we never exaggerate. Can't you tell?

Do I sound like I could be from Texas? Hell yes, I am!
