Still Visiting

Saudi Arabia - if you like sand; a LOT of sand and scorpions and jumping spiders and no shade trees - go there!  Have a blast! Roll around in the 110+ heat. Enough said. Next!

Okinawa - considered part of Japan - but not by Okinawans.  I had a geat time there. If you like deep sea fishing, great scuba diving, and playing golf, then this is where you should go. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. It's a very small place, but overall, the people are friendly and helpful.  Please be polite, and do not show the "arrogant American" part that the rest of the world believes we are. Rudeness is very impolite, as it should be. If you know your military history, then you know about the battle that was fought there. The Okinawans fought beside us. I also saw my first "cobra vs. mongoose" fight there (the mongoose won). There are still American bases there, such as Kadena AB, a big one (and where I was stationed), Camp Kinser Marine base, and other smaller bases scattered around, so there are a lot of Americans close by.

Micronesia - small and mean. Not really.  It's a nice place; maybe too small and limited. But they have some of the best, relaxing resorts there are. Beautiful views.  A place to go if you REALLY want to get away.

Hawaii - who doesn't want to go there!  I've been a few times.  It's a place everyone saves money to visit.  And it's worth it. If you have to save for years to afford to go there, then do it! You'll be glad you did. But attend a barbeque (or luau).  Try to go to the "real thing." Not a dog and pony show for the masses. Try to get invited to a real local one. It's way different. Aloha!

These are only a few places I suggest from personal experiences. You can read all about them on line or in magazines, of course, but I'm only typing this because I've actually been to these places. I can list quite a few more, but maybe later.

Hong Kong - I took my wife there for ten days.  It's ok. It's different, that's for sure.  It's one of those places that you just want to say you've been to. A bit expensive, but not bad.  Great hotel room for about $100 a night.

It's a cool blue sky above!
